About Habersham County

For most of the stations history, it was a music formatted facility. Over the years the station has played Country Music, Big Band/Nostalgia, and even Southern Gospel. As times have changed, and most music formats have gravitated to the FM band, interest in music on the AM band declined.

In early 2006 veteran broadcaster Bob Biermann noticed the facility, and realized that WCHM could fill a much-needed programming vacuum in the region with a talk format. It is a fact that talk radio on the AM band achieves the number one position in the ratings in most of the top markets nationwide, and in Clarkesville/Habersham County, there was no dominant Talk Radio Signal.

Bob has been in the radio industry since 1970, and is no stranger to Northeast Georgia Radio. Bob has worked in various capacities in stations throughout the Southeast, including WLET AM/FM in Toccoa, GA, plus stations in Greenville, SC, Anderson, SC, Sarasota, FL, and Atlanta, GA. His experience is not only in On-Air, but he is also a qualified and licensed Broadcast Engineer. His experience has also included Sales and Management.

In the late fall of 2006, WCHM changed to the current talk format. Over the intervening months, the station developed a very loyal following of listeners. In September 2008, the station was acquired by Rehoboth Beach communications.Currently the Transmitter site is undergoing a rebuild and improvements. As part of our service to the community, FOX News and other popular talk programs were added to the line-up.
